1-6x24E SCOPE Instruction Manual
1.WARNING
BE CERTAIN THAT YOUR FIREARM IS NOT LOADED AND POINTED AWAY FROM YOU INA SAFE DIRECTION.
Use safe gun handling procedures at all times.
ATTENTION: All shooting should be done in an approved range and in a safe area and that eye and ear protection is used.
DANGER: If you used a bore sighting collimator or another bore obstructing device, remove it before proceeding. If the barrel has been drilled for a mount, ensure that the screws do not obstruct the bore. Do not fire live or even blank ammunition with an obstructed barrel as any obstruction can cause serious damage to the gun and the possible injury to yourself and other people around you.
2.EYEPIECE FOCUSING
The eyepiece is designed to provide a precise fast focus. The eyepiece will focus faster than your eye can compensate for any inaccuracy in your adjustment.
Look at a distant object for several seconds without using your scope. Then, shift your vision quickly, looking through the scope at a plain background. Turn the fast-focus eyepiece clockwise or counter clockwise to adjust to your eyes. The reticle pattern should be sharp and clear before your eye can refocus. After you have made your adjustment, with a quick glance re-check the image.
WARNING: NEVER LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH THE SCOPE (OR ANY OTHER OPTICAL INSTRUMENT). IT MAY PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR EYES.
3.MOUNTING
To achieve the best accuracy from your rifle, your scope must be mounted properly.
- Before tightening the mount rings, look through the scope in your normal shooting position. Adjust the scope (either forward or backward) until you find the furthest point forward (to ensure maximum eye relief) that allows you to see a full field of view.
- Rotate the scope in the rings until the reticle pattern is perpendicular to the bore and the elevation adjustment is on top.
- Tighten the mounting screws. Do not over-tighten as this could damage the scope and affect the performance. You should ensure that on both sides of the rings there is always a slight gap of the same diameter.
WARNING: IF THE SCOPE IS NOT MOUNTED FAR ENOUGH FORWARD, ITS REARWARD MOTION MAY INJURE THE SHOOTER WHEN THE RIFLE RECOILS.
4.PRE-ZEROING
1) Pre-zero sighting can be done with scope guide or a shot shaver which can be obtained from your firearms dealer.
- With scope mounted set zoom to mid power and rest the rifle on a steady support.
- Look through the bore from the breech at a target 50 yards away. Move the butt stock so that the target is in the center of the bore.
- Without moving the rifle, turn the windage and elevation adjustment dials with fingers in the direction you wish the bullet's point-of-impact to change. (up/down, left/right)
NOTE: IF A LARGE AMOUNT OF WINDAGE AND ELEVATION ADJUSTMENTS ARE NEEDED TO BORE SIGHT, MAKE HALF OF THE SCALES AVAILABLE ADJUSTMENTS AT A TIME FOR THE WINDAGE ANDELEVATION.
5.BORE SIGHTING
Bore sighting your riflescope with your rifle will allow you quickly and more accurately “zero in” or “sight in” the riflescope to the correct shooting distance. It is best done using a Ezshoot® Bore Sighter. You will always need to shoot a test group of shots after you bore sight your riflescope with the rifle. It will reduce wasting ammunition when targeting in your rifle during test shooting.
6.ZEROING
Final sighting-in of your rifle should be done with live ammunition, based on your expected shooting distance. If most of your shots will be at short range, zero-in at 100 yards. But, for long range shooting at big game, most experienced shooters zero-in about three inches high at 100 yards. Three-shot groups are useful for averaging the point of impact.
To make adjustment:
- Remove outer caps.
- Set scope zoom to the max power, and adjust the windage and elevation knobs as needed to correct the aim.
- Each click adjustment of the windage and elevation changes/moves the bullet strikes by the amount in chart below.
Use the formula listed below to determine range.
Using an odometer or a measuring wheel determine the actual range to the targets.
Compare the actual range between using a measuring wheel, naked eye and using mils.
Height of Target in inches x 95.5/(Height of Target inches in MOA) = Range in Yards
Note: You can multiply by 100 instead of 95.5 for quicker calculations, but will be less accurate.
7.ELEVATION AND WINDAGE ADJUSTMENT
1) Remove the covers from the Elevation and Windage Adjustments.
2) Turn the turret in/against “UP” direction indicated by the arrows. Each “click” or increment on the adjustment scale ring will change bullet impact by 1/2 Minute of Angle.
8.VARIABLE POWER ADJUSTMENTS
To change magnification, simply rotate the Power Change Ring to align the desired number on the power scale with index dot.
When still-hunting or stalking game, a variable scope should be set to the lowest power. You then have the widest field of view for quick shots at close range. Higher powers should be reserved for precise long-range shots.
WARNING: A SCOPE SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR EITHER A BINOCULAR OR
SPOTTING SCOPE. IT MAY RESULT IN YOU INADVERTENTLY POINTING THE GUN AT ANOTHER PERSON.
9.MAINTENANCE
Your Ezshoot scope, though amazingly tough, is a precision instrument that deserves reasonable cautious care.
- When cleaning the lenses, first blow away any dirt and dust, or use a soft lens brush. Fingerprints and lubricants can be wiped off with lens tissue, or a soft clean cotton cloth, moistened with lens cleaning fluid.
- All moving parts of the scope are permanently lubricated. Do not try to lubricate them.
- No maintenance is needed on the scope’s outer surface, except to occasionally wipe off dirt or fingerprints with a soft cloth.
- Use lens covers whenever convenient.
WARNING: UNNECESSARY RUBBING OR USE OF A COARSE CLOTH MAY CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO LENS COATINGS.
10.STORAGE
Avoid storing the scope in hot places, such as the passenger compartments of vehicles on hot days. The high temperatures could adversely affect the lubricants and sealants. A vehicle’s trunk, a gun cabinet or a closet is preferable. Never leave the scope where direct sunlight can enter either the objective or the eyepiece lens. Damage may result from the concentration (burning glass effect) of the sun’s rays.
