Dot Sights

How to zero your red dot sight correctly?

Safety Notice: Always ensure your firearm is completely unloaded before mounting or adjusting your optic, and observe all standard range safety rules.

Follow these step-by-step instructions to achieve a reliable and accurate zero for your red dot sight:

  1. Stabilize your firearm: Mount the red dot securely to your rail and place the firearm on a steady bench rest, bipod, or sandbag to minimize human movement.
  2. Preliminary bore sighting: At 15–25 yards, visually align the bore or use a laser bore sighter to get the red dot roughly co-aligned with the barrel axis prior to live firing.
  3. Fire an initial 3-shot grouping: Aim steadily at the center bullseye of your 25-yard target and fire a controlled group of 3 to 5 rounds. Locate the center point of this impact cluster.
  4. Measure the deviation: Determine the horizontal (windage) and vertical (elevation) distance between your point of impact (where shots landed) and your point of aim (the bullseye).
  5. Adjust the turrets: Remove turret caps and adjust according to the direction indicators:If impacts are low, turn elevation toward UP.If impacts are high, turn elevation toward DOWN.If impacts are left, turn windage toward R (Right). If impacts are right, turn windage toward L (Left).
  6. Verify and fine-tune: Fire another 3-shot group to verify the adjustments. Repeat fine clicks until your shots consistently strike the center aiming point. (Once zeroed at 25 yards, you can re-confirm at 50 or 100 yards if preferred for your rifle caliber).
